Description
The Loan Officer will develop and enhance the bank's loan portfolio. Loans typically will be for livestock, crops or agricultural operations, in addition to small businesses and 1 to 4 family residential real estate found most commonly in rural areas.

Ensures that sound banking practices are followed and that all regulations governing banking functions are strictly observed.  Expected to deliver customer service as outlined in our “customer pledge” and “customer service standards”.

Responsibilities
  • Interviewing and evaluating applicants for loans and underwriting those requests.  Gather background information and analyze loan applicants’ credit history and approve or deny loan applications based on analysis and operate within credit authority. 
  • Manage a portfolio of existing relationships as well as developing new business by calling on current customers and prospective customers using referrals or additional cross-selling opportunities.
  • Maximize bank profitability through appropriate pricing of new loan originations, fee income and selling of all bank products and services.
  • Prepares loan presentations for consideration by Loan Committee on loans outside of lending authority.
  • Attends and participates in meetings and committees as required.
  • Represents the bank and provides leadership in key local community activities including business, charitable, civic, and social organizations to maintain the bank’s image as that of a responsible corporate citizen.
Qualifications

Required:  Strong understanding of agriculture with knowledge and/or involvement in banking/lending/credit.  Must possess demonstrated strong leadership qualities, good communication and sales skills, decision-making abilities, and a high degree of personal integrity.
Has knowledge of the technicalities of farm financing and credit, financial management concepts and practices, farm operations, land use and value, production and marketing of various crops and livestock, and prices and markets in the serviced farming areas.
